HIS 383 - Modern China 3 Credits
A brief sketch of traditional society followed by analysis of
China’s reaction to the Western assault, revolution, the role of
the Japanese, the Communist Era, and China’s position in the
1970’s. Prerequisite: 1.) advanced class standing and a previous course in
the area; or a general level of competence indicated by three
previous courses in the social sciences and/or humanities 2.)
seminars and colloquia require the permission of the instructor. When Offered: Fall, Spring
