HIS 345 - The Early Republic: US 1789-1848 3 Credits
This course covers one of the most complex periods in US history, a
time marked by democratic ferment, territorial expansion, increased
national- ism and growing sectionalism. Through lectures, group
discussions, various readings, papers and essay exams, students
will learn about the people, ideas, institutions and events that
shaped the new nation. Prerequisite: upper division standing or instructor permission.
1.) advanced class standing and a previous course in the area; or a
general level of competence indicated by three previous courses in
the social sciences and/or humanities 2.) seminars and colloquia
require the permission of the instructor. When Offered: Irregular
