A. Core Requirements (15 cr)

• BIO 110 - Biology Seminar credit: 1
• BIO 120 - Molecular and Cellular Foundations credit: 4
• BIO 315 - Genetics credit: 3
• BIO 316 - Laboratory in Genetics credit: 1
• BIO 425 - Evolution credit: 3
• BIO 492 - Research credit: 3

B. Elective Requirements (21 cr)

• Area Electives—At least one course from each Area 1 to 3 (9-11 cr)
• Free Electives in department (10-12 cr) 10-12 hours of courses in Biological Sciences, excluded courses are BIO 101, 203, 207 and 211.

C. Cognate Requirements (26-27 cr)

• CHE 111 - General Chemistry credit: 4
• CHE 212 - General Chemistry credit: 4
• MAT 179 - Measuring Life credit: 3

Note:

A single Bio 492 course cannot be used to fill multiple requirements. A Bio 492 used for an area elective is in addition to the Bio 492 used as a core requirement. A Bio 492 that is used for one area elective cannot also be used for another area elective.

Candidates who seek to transfer within the college to a Biology major must meet with the advisement coordinator. Such a candidate must have completed CHE 111, MAT 120 or 210, and ENG 102, each with a C- or better, and have an overall Oswego GPA of 2. 5 or better.
