ANT 374 - Contemporary Africa


An overview of Africanist topics including kinship, family life, political structure, ecological management, and belief systems. Emphasizes the cultural diversities and global connectedness of the African continent and contrasts these to outside perspectives that historically homogenized and marginalized Africans. Ethnographic case studies chosen to illustrate different topics and groups.

Prerequisite: Upper Class standing AND any one of: ANT 112; SOC 100; CRJ 101;  PSY 100;  ECO 101; SUS 115; GLS 200; OR Instructor Permission
