HIS 378 - Freedom in American History 2013-2014 Catalog Year
Using the disciplines of law and history, this course examines how Americans have defined the word “freedom” from the colonial era through the twentieth century. Political, economic, and social contexts will be explored, with particular attention paid to the relationship between individual liberties and the power of the state to influence behavior.
