• EDU 500 - Critical Pedagogy Credit: 3

•       OR LIT 500 Critical Literacy and Pedagogy  Credit: 3

• EDU 510 - Educational Assessment Credit: 3
• EDU 516 - Continuing Professional Development through Research Credit: 3
• EDU 555 - Curriculum Development Credit: 3
• EDU 595 - Portfolio Development and Professional Synthesis Credit: 3

•      OR HSC 525 Interactive Health Technologies  Credit: 3

B. Pedagogical Electives (3 cr)

• Any EDU, HSC, LIT, or SPE course.

C. Electives (12 cr)

Select with advisor approval, four content-related courses that link pedagogy and content in the subject of the certificate or a related subject, such as:

• HSC 510 - Mind-Body Wellness Credit: 3
• HSC 512 - Healthy Weight Management Credit: 3
• HSC 514 - Wellness and Addictions Credit: 3
• HSC 520 - Health Behavior Change Process Credit: 3

Additional Information

Candidacy

Candidates accepted into the Health Education Grades K-12 must apply for Degree Candidacy after completing 12-18 credits in the program. Any coursework taken in excess of 18 credits without candidacy is liable to forfeiture.  An overall cumulative average of 3.0 or better is required to qualify for degree candidacy as well as meeting program specifications, such as professional development and conditional acceptance requirements. The Degree Candidacy Application is submitted to the Graduate Studies Office and subsequently sent to the appropriate department for review.
