Art Department

The Graphic Design and Digital Media program consists of hands-on studio courses, history and theory of design and digital media.

Candidates choose to focus in a specific medium (such as the web, interactive media, or print) or to focus on a specific production type (such as promotional, informational or illustrative). The curriculum is structured into two tracks: one offering students with an undergraduate degree in a related area of study the opportunity to develop a specialization, and the second offering students from outside of the discipline the opportunity for general study within design to complement an undergraduate degree. Students are paired with a faculty mentor to help choose the path that is right for them and guide them throughout the graduate experience.

Program-specific requirements (capstone, thesis, teaching hours, etc.)

All first year graduate students must undergo a first semester review at the end of their first term.
Students in the specialist track are required to complete an exhibition and oral defense of their thesis work.
Students in the generalist track may choose between an exhibition or a public presentation of their thesis and oral defense.
