Health Information Technology, Post-Baccalaureate Advanced Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Health Information Technology is a fifteen credit hour, degree certificate program that addresses the growing demand for the integration of new information technology by health care affiliates. The program offers experiential learning opportunities to study health information technology and the growing importance of digital and electronic health care. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree. Courses will be offered at Oswego’s main campus and online. Typical time to complete the certificate is 3 semesters, over a one year period. Participants completing the full certificate program will receive an annotation on their student transcripts. This is not a full degree program and does not lead to a certification.
Admission Requirements
The student must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. The student’s undergraduate grade point average should be a 3.0 or higher. The following evidence of scholarship and educational preparation in the health care services and/or the field of health communications be can be submitted any time throughout the academic year, admission to the program is on a rolling basis. All credentials are reviewed in a holistic manner such that strength in one area might offset a weakness in another. This review will be completed prior to admission to coursework.

All students will be advised by faculty from the Computer Science Department or the faculty of the Human-Computer Interaction MA program.
