PHL 237 - Eastern Philosophy PHL-237 introduces students to a number of major eastern philosophical schools of thought, including Confucianism, Mohism, Daoism, Buddhism, and Jainism. We will
work to interpret and critically evaluate these schools’ competing views in areas of philosophy such as metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics. We will also critically examine how the views embraced by philosophers in these schools correspond with, parallel, or in some cases radically diverge from views embraced by western philosophers.
