POL 359 - The Nation-State and Global Order This course introduces students to the historical, conceptual, and institutional sources of the modern political world. It emphasizes the historical formation of the nation-state, its development into a global system of states, the alternative forms it has taken in both the developed and under-developed worlds, and the global forms of political and economic organization that currently challenge the nation-state as the primary focus of political power and identity.
Prerequisite: 3 credits in Politcal Science or Instuctor Permission. When Offered: Not on a regular basis Credit: 3
