ART 387 - Modern Art and Mass Culture This course introduces students to European and American avant-garde art between 1850 and 1980, looking specifically at the impact mass culture and popular art forms (like advertising, graphic illustrations, posters, postcards, photography, fashion, film, music halls, jazz music, and puppets) had upon the development of modern and postmodern art.
Prerequisite: Sophomore standing; or instructor permission. Offered: Not on a regular basis. Credit: 3
