Candidates must have a grade of B- or better in every special education course and an overall cumulative average of 3.0 or better to qualify for degree candidacy.

The Program

The program prepares teachers to the level of excellence specified in the SUNY Oswego School of Education Conceptual Framework and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) guidelines.

Student Teaching

Each candidate will be provided two student teaching placements. Each placement is 15 weeks in length and involves a full-time commitment, all day Monday – Friday. Candidates earn either a Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory grade for each of the two student teaching experiences. If an unsatisfactory grade is earned, the candidate may have another placement. If two unsatisfactory grades are earned, the candidate will not be placed a third time.
