Psychology Honors Program
The Psychology Honors Program is a thirty-seven credit hour program that includes the Psychology (BA) major. The application procedure and specific program requirements are listed below.
The Department of Psychology awards Honors for students who complete outstanding scholarly work and maintain a high academic performance. Students interested in pursuing Honors work with a faculty sponsor in developing a proposal. Students must have their proposals accepted by the end of their junior year.
Criteria for admission
- GPA 3.3 overall, 3.5 in Psychology
- Proposal submitted to the Student Achievement Committee
- Application and sponsorship by a faculty member in the department. This is reviewed by the committee along with the proposal.
- Completion of with a “B” or higher grade
Thesis and Coursework:
- Students must complete a minimum of six credit hours in
Completion of Project:
- A written thesis will be reviewed for approval by the faculty sponsor and the Student Achievement Committee
- An oral presentatin of the thesis work must be given at a regional, national or international professional conference OR a formal public defense of the thesis must be completed and approved by two full-time faculty members in the department.
