A. Core Requirements (18 cr)

• HIS 202 - History of the United States to 1865 credit: 3
• HIS 203 - History of the United States Since 1865 credit: 3
• POL 205 - American Government and Politics credit: 3
• ENG 235 - American Literature from the Beginning to the Civil War credit: 3
• ENG 236 - American Literature from the Civil War to the Present credit: 3
• AMS 400 - Seminar In American Studies credit: 3

B. Elective Requirements (18 cr)

• Electives may be chosen, under advisement, from most of the course listings of the College if a relevance for an individual’s program can be demonstrated. Fifteen of the eighteen elective credit hours must be earned in 300- or 400- level courses. Students are asked to present a tentative program of planned electives when admitted as an American Studies major.
