Admission Requirements
Permission of the Trauma Studies Coordinator and the Graduate Office or Graduate Dean could be sought for admission outside of these parameters.
Undergraduate Students
- Seniors who need only nine credits to graduate and have a 3.25 major GPA or better, and a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA or petition Graduate Office for admission
- Complete Dual Registration Form
- Complete Trauma Studies Application Form
- Complete interview
- Application fee paid (waived for matriculated undergraduate students)
Non-matriculated Graduate Students
- Evidence of undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better or completion of a graduate level program
- Complete Non-matriculated Student Application
- Complete Trauma Studies Application Form
- Complete interview
- Application fee paid
Matriculated Students in Mental Health Counseling
- Maintain minimum GPA of 3.0
- Complete Trauma Studies Application Form
- Complete interview
- Application fee paid (waived for matriculated MHC students)
Certificate Candidacy
It is the responsibility of the student to file for certificate candidacy when six hours of course work has been completed. A cumulative average of 3.0 or better, completion of PSY 552, and demonstrated professional competence is required to qualify for the awarding of certificate candidacy status. Candidacy applications can be obtained from the Graduate Office. It is the responsibility of the student’s faculty advisor to evaluate the student’s progress in terms of the criteria established by the graduate faculty. This evaluation may be in the form of either an oral or written examination.
After this evaluation, recommendations regarding the student’s candidacy status are transmitted by the Graduate Studies Office. If the recommendations are acceptable, the student is admitted as a degree candidate and is so informed by the department.
