PSY 484 - Behavioral Genetics This course explores the intersection of genetics, behavior, and mental health. Students will gain foundational knowledge of genetic principles, molecular biology, and neurobiology as they apply to psychological traits and disorders. Topics include heritability, genetic mutations, gene-environment interaction, and gene-environment correlation. Special emphasis will be placed on contemporary research techniques such as twin and adoption studies, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and epigenetics. Ethical considerations and real-world applications will also be discussed.
Prerequisite: PSY 290 and PSY 303 (both with a minumum grade of C-); or instructor permission. When Offered: Not on a regular basis Credit: 3
