ART 378 - Women, Patronage, and Art in the Middle Ages


Women in the Middle Ages have been of great interest to scholars in recent decades, particularly the patronage of art by aristocratic women who possessed the resources to memorialize themselves and their families through art and architecture. This course will examine these noble women and their commissions prior to 1800.

Prerequisite: ART 250 or ART 251 and sophomore standing; or permission of the instructor.
