PSY 350 - Psychopathology


This course is a comprehensive introduction to psychopathology (also known as abnormal psychology or clinical psychology). It covers the main psychological disorders as presented in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR). You will uncover the mysteries behind a wide range of mental health conditions, delving into their causes (etiology), prevalence, and the latest, most effective treatment approaches. The course includes frequent examples, case studies, videos, and practice opportunities to foster critical thinking throughout consistent engagement with, and application of presented material. Furthermore, this course is designed using inclusive, trauma-informed, and accessible teaching practices that recognizes diverse identities, lived experiences, and learning needs as we progress through all course material. 
 

Prerequisite: PSY 100 (minimum grade C-) or COG 166 (minimum grade C-).
