BHI 501 - Introduction to Health Information Systems

The course is an introduction to technologies and practices in medical and biological information systems through literature review and projects. Topics include healthcare context, health data concepts, databases, electronic health records, information security, human-computer interaction, interoperability, ethical concerns, team science, legal and regulatory requirements, information systems management, and emerging trends.

Prerequisite: Graduate standing; or instructor permission.
