ART 353 - Twentieth-Century Modern Art This course introduces students to the major art movements occurring in twentieth century Europe and the United States. It emphasizes the history of avant-garde movements in major artistic centers, competing meanings of modernism and post-modernism, the institutions and historical events that interacted with artistic formations, and the critical approaches that shape the construction of the art historical canon.
Prerequisite: ART 251, or instructor permission. When Offered: Fall Credit: 3
