AED 530 - Methods in Art Education K-12 3 Credit(s)
Candidates will be introduced to the theory and practices of Art
Education in the United States. Foundations for the teaching of
studio art, art history, art appreciation, art criticism,reading
and literacy in the art class, as well as the appreciation of
diverse cultures through the study of art heritage will be studied.
The application of art content to the childhood and adolescent
levels will be the focus. The application of art processes to the
psychological developmental level of all learners will be studied
and the role of Art Education in the public schools will be
analyzed. All of this will be studied in conjunction with a
concurrent childhood practicum and student teaching experience,
where candidates can observe, analyze, and text hypotheses while
learning to adjust their expectations. Prerequisite Acceptance in the MAT Art Education Program and concurrent registration in Aed 540. When Offered Fall
