BIO 556 - Flora of the Oswego Region 3 Credit(s)
Field identification of vascular plants found in Oswego County and
the surrounding region. Introduction to the principles of
classification and nomenclature. Field work will include
exploration of the flora of recognized ecological communities of
the region, impact of introduced exotic species, and status of rare
endangered native species. Students will become familiar with
professional manuals and popular guides for the identification of
vascular plants. Graduate students will develop a teaching resource
such as an appropriately documented collection of specimens or
photographs.Note(s) This course is intended for graduate students in Education and
in-service teachers at the elementary and secondary level. Prerequisite Bio 112 (or equivalent), graduate standing, and permission of instructor. When Offered Irregular
