Program Description
Family and Consumer Sciences Education (All Grades)
The Master of Science in Education degree, major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education (all grades), is designed for generalists in the respective field that wish to gain initial certification to teach their subject area in New York State.
Admission requires 30 college credits in the 4 disciplines as defined for FACS certification in NYS:
- Human Service and Family Studies Discipline
- Food and Nutrition Studies Discipline
- Textiles and Design Discipline
- Consumer Skills, Resource Management and Career Studies Discipline
Note: No more than 9 credits can be in any one discipline; all 4 disciplines must be included in the 30 credits.

The Master of Science in Education degree, major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education Subjects (7-12), is designed for specialists in the respective field that wish to gain initial and professional certification to teach their specialty in New York State.
