Psychology Honors Program

Psychology Honors Program

The Department of Psychology awards Honors for students who complete outstanding scholarly work and maintain a high academic performance. Students interested in pursuing Honors, work with a faculty sponsor in developing a proposal. Students must have their proposals accepted by the end of their junior year.

Criteria for admission

  1. GPA 3.4 overall, 3.5 in Psychology
  2. Proposal submitted to the Honors and Student Research Committee
  3. Application and sponsorship by a faculty member in the department. This is reviewed by the committee along with the proposal.
  4. Completion of PSY 290 with a “B” or higher grade

Thesis and Coursework:

  1. Students must complete a minimum of six credit hours in PSY 490H
  2. Students must complete PSY 475H in the fall of their senior year

Completion of Project:

  1. A written thesis will be reviewed for approval by the Honors and Student Research Committee
  2. An oral presentatin of the thesis work must be given at a public venue.
