CPS 560 - Chemical Dependency and Its Treatment Catalog Year 2011-2012
This course will familiarize students with the problems of chemical
dependency and its impact on the individual, family, and society.
An understanding of the impact of chemical dependency, and
knowledge of the basic principles of treatment and referral,
constitute important aspects of professional preparation for
counselors, psychologists, and educators. Problems and current
approaches in defining, evaluating and treating chemical dependency
will be explored. The course is structured to conform with the
training of the Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Service and
fulfills an essential educational requirement for those students
who wish to become certified as Credentialed Alcoholism Counselors
(CAC).
PREREQ: Graduate standing, and permission of instructor. OFFERED: Fall, Summer CREDIT: 3
