This course is designed to provide students with experience in
using mathematics to solve practical problems. Examples of
successful modeling of real-world problems will be studied, along
with the strategies used in the modeling process. Students will
acquire the ability to make simplifying assumptions in mathematical
formulations of problems, to describe models in verbal and written
presentations, and to use computer packages to analyze models.
