LIT 311 - Language and Literacy Development for All Learners 2010-2011 Catalog Year
The emphasis in this course is teaching literacy to all elementary
school language learners across all content areas. This course is
based on the premise that reading, writing, listening, speaking,
and viewing are integral components of language processing and
literacy. It uses these understandings to teach both the content
and process of language acquisition and literacy development.
Principles and structures of language are taught through the
process of language use. That is, language skills are taught and
modeled in context, then applied to the teaching of language arts
in the elementary school.
