MAT 353 - Mathematical Modeling 3 Credits
This course is designed to provide students with experience in
using mathematics to solve practical problems. Examples of
successful modeling of real-world problems will be studied, along
with the strategies used in the modeling process. Students will
acquire the ability to make simplifying assumptions in mathematical
formulations of problems, to describe models in verbal and written
presentations, and to use computer packages to analyze models. Prerequisite: MAT 210, 220, and 230, or one course in calculus
plus two statistics courses (MAT 158, 258 or PSY 280, 290) or
instructor permission. When Offered: Irregular
