HIS 498 - Internship in History


0 to 12 Credits

A course designed for students who wish to take part in a job placement and work experience that is related to their academic program. Students will work in a part-time or full- time position in industry, business, government or an agency setting for the purpose of testing academic learning in a work situation.Note: This course may be taken in conjunction with an internship arranged by the Experience-Based Education Program on campus or it may be taken as an internship arranged by the History Department. In either case up to six hours may be accepted as history credit.
Prerequisite: Acceptance in the Experience-Based Education Program will be required of all students who wish to serve the internship under arrangement with the Experience-Based Education Program. Junior or Senior standing is required of all students who wish to arrange an internship exclusively with the History Department. 1.) advanced class standing and a previous course in the area; or a general level of competence indicated by three previous courses in the social sciences and/or humanities 2.) seminars and colloquia require the permission of the instructor.
