HIS 305 - The Eastern Religious Tradition 3 Credits
An examination of the religious traditions of Asia showing the
historical interaction of folk religion with the developing
concepts and institutions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism,
Taoism, and Shinto. The impact of unique cultural environments on
religious thought and practice is a principal focus. Prerequisite: upper division standing. 1.) advanced class standing
and a previous course in the area; or a general level of competence
indicated by three previous courses in the social sciences and/or
humanities 2.) seminars and colloquia require the permission of the
