  • VTP 465 - Developing Work-Based Learning Programs


    2019-2020 Catalog Year:

    This course is the first, of two, that focuses on the development of competence essential in planning and organizing a work based learning program for teachers seeking certification as coordinators of work-based learning programs. Study and practice in compiling and/or preparing occupational analyses, training outlines, community (business-industry) surveys, and plans for instructional facilities are included.

  • VTP 466 - Implementing and Evaluating Work-Based Learning Programs


    2019-2020 Catalog Year:

    This is the second course in the program for certification of coordinators of work-based learning programs. The emphasis is on competencies essential in conducting established programs. The main topics include student selection and counseling, employer-student-school relations, supervising on-the-job training, interpretation of legal aspects, related instruction, records and reports.

    Extensive study and research on a particular topic of student interest under the supervision of a faculty member.   • WST 498 - Internship


    2019-2020 Catalog Year:

    A one-semester field placement designed to give advanced students supervised training and experience in work related to the field of Gender and Women’s Studies. Students will work full-time or part-time in a position which will provide opportunities to apply classroom learning to analyze and synthesize that knowledge in an approved internship setting.

    Note: Variable credit one to six, may be repeated six times for a totatl of six credits. Transfer students are eligible for internship only after completing 30 credit hours at Oswego.
    Prerequisite: A minimum of 12 credits in approved Gender and Women’s Studies courses, a minimum GPA of 2.5, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in Gender and Women’s Studies, and upper division standing.

    A study of the physical, chemical and geological factors that influence biological productivity of inland waters. Laboratory analysis of these samples is undertaken throughout the semester so that the results of the various trips can be compared.

    Dead men do tell tales. In this course, students gain an in-depth knowledge of human skeletal anatomy (osteology), which is crucial for work in bioarchaeology, forensics, anatomy, medicine and more. Anthropometric methods will be demonstrated to estimate age-at-death, sex, stature, and ancestry and medico-legal and archaeological applications will be outlined.
